New York Minute

In a few days it will be six months since I got on a plane and moved to New York City! While I’ve been a pretty big slacker when it comes to updating the ol’ blog, if you follow me at all on social media (and really, you should), you probably know I’ve been making the most of my time in the city.

If I had to pick one word to describe my time here thus far, I’d choose: SURREAL. Seriously, I LIVE IN NEW YORK! I still can’t believe it sometimes. But then there are moments when I’m making a mad dash from one place to another, weaving in and out of slow walking tourists, ignoring the “hey there beautiful” cat calls, and trying not to step in whatever messes have been left on the sidewalk, and I look up and see the Empire State Building and remember that THIS is where I live!

Right after I got here I read a quote that said, “One belongs to New York instantly. One belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years.” (Thomas Wolfe) New York is where I belong. And even though I still don’t know my way around as well as I should (I live and die by Google Maps), and even though I still do dumb touristy things sometimes, I definitely feel like a New Yorker.
